A Jeonju drama filming walk can link Hanok Village, the Seohak-dong art neighborhood and the area around Hanbyeokgul. Vehicles also use Hanbyeokgul: it is not a pedestrian-only tunnel. Plan photo stops around safe access rather than treating the roadway as a filming set. This guide was checked against official tourism information on September 8, 2026.

Verified screen locations: Gyeonggijeon and Hanbyeokgul

Gyeonggijeon houses a royal portrait of King Taejo. The official Jeonju Hanok Village heritage guide lists films including Masquerade and The Fatal Encounter among productions filmed there. Gyeonggijeon, Jeonju Hyanggyo and Jeondong Cathedral are different locations, so check the specific site if you are looking for a particular scene.

The Korea Tourism Organization’s Hanbyeokgul listing identifies the tunnel as a location from Twenty-Five Twenty-One. It also warns that cars use the site. Being a photo location does not mean there is a protected place to stand inside the tunnel.

Suggested order: Hanok Village → Seohak-dong → Hanbyeokgul area

1. Gyeonggijeon and the village lanes. Start around Gyeonggijeon and mark the lanes you want to visit, such as Choi Myeong-hee Street. Check the official opening hours and admission information if you intend to enter the shrine. A walk outside and an indoor or ticketed visit require different amounts of time.

2. Seohak-dong art neighborhood. Set Seohak-dong as the next destination in your map app and check the current pedestrian route. Galleries and workshops set their own hours; confirm any specific place you want to enter. Respect residents’ doorways and private yards.

3. Hanbyeokdang and the area around Hanbyeokgul. Adjust this stop to the traffic and access conditions you find. Walking through the tunnel need not be an essential part of the route. View the area from a safe, permitted position when access is limited.

Distance and timing: calculate your chosen route

The total distance depends on the lanes, river crossings and attractions you include. A straight-line distance is not the same as a walking route. Enter your stops in order in a map app before leaving, then add time for meals, photographs and admission queues.

Check the return location and deadline with any hanbok rental shop; do not assume a one-way return is offered. If your schedule is tight, choose fewer stops and allow extra time for the journey back to your station or accommodation.

Photographing Hanbyeokgul safely

The official accessibility listing warns that vehicles pass through. Do not stand in the roadway or set up a tripod where it obstructs traffic. Follow local signs and any access restrictions. Poor light can make it harder to see traffic, so do not rely on the tunnel being suitable for night photography.

If a safe photo position is unavailable, skip the shot rather than moving into traffic. With children or companions who need mobility assistance, assess the approach first and change the stop if conditions are unsuitable.

Transport and wet-weather planning

Check live bus routes, transfers and departures from Jeonju Station or your bus terminal. A fixed 20-minute bus estimate will not cover every starting point or traffic condition. Drivers can consult the official Hanok Village parking guide before setting out.

In wet weather, shorten the walk if surfaces or visibility make it uncomfortable. Confirm opening hours before adding an indoor attraction. Religious sites may restrict sightseeing during services or events.

Before you leave

Use the Jeonju heritage guide for attraction details and the Hanbyeokgul listing for access cautions. The sequence above is a planning suggestion, not a measured distance table or a guarantee of safe passage through the tunnel.
