Korea Autumn Food Festivals 2026: Namdanghang Shrimp & Bonghwa Songi Dates
Official notices checked on September 8, 2026. Planning a Korea autumn food festival trip starts with the event dates, which are different from an ingredient’s peak season. Hongseong Namdanghang Daeha Festival is listed for September 4–November 8, and Bonghwa Pine Mushroom Festival for October 15–18. For jeoneo (gizzard shad), check the specific town’s current event notice before booking.
Korea autumn food festival dates verified for 2026

Hongseong Namdanghang Daeha Festival: September 4–November 8, 2026. The venue is Namdanghang in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do. Source: Chungnam Tourism’s official event listing. Individual performances and activities may run on selected days rather than throughout the festival.
Bonghwa Pine Mushroom Festival: October 15–18, 2026. Source: Bonghwa Festival & Tourism Foundation. When checked, the detailed program section was still marked as being prepared. Mushroom-picking availability, booking rules and activity fees should therefore be checked when the organizer publishes them.
Jeoneo festivals: this guide does not confirm a specific local festival date for 2026. Look for a current notice from the town or city you plan to visit. Seasonal seafood sales do not necessarily mean a festival is taking place.
Namdanghang: ask what the shrimp price includes
Before ordering, ask whether the displayed price is per kilogram or per person. Check whether takeout and restaurant prices differ, and whether table service, grilling, drinks or side dishes cost extra. Confirm the total for your group before ordering; an older visitor review is not a current price list.
Ask the seller about the species and whether the shrimp are wild-caught or farmed. Size alone is not a reliable way for a visitor to establish this. If you want to join an activity, check its dates, registration requirements and fees separately from the overall festival dates.
Bonghwa: buying songi and booking activities
Compare mushroom prices using the same weight and grade, and distinguish the price of fresh mushrooms from a restaurant meal. Ask the seller about storage and transport if you are buying a gift. A fixed per-person dining budget would be misleading without a current menu.
Book a picking experience only through an announced program, and follow the organizer’s access and participation rules. Do not plan to enter woodland and collect mushrooms independently as part of the festival visit.
Jeoneo food trips: choose the town and dish first
Jeoneo may be served grilled, raw or seasoned. Ask whether the preparation includes bones and how many people the portion is intended to serve. If visiting a particular festival, save the exact venue address rather than navigating to any seafood market in the same town.
Transport and budgeting for foreign visitors
Choose one main festival before adding other stops. Namdanghang and Bonghwa are in different regions and work better as separate short trips. Seoul’s Namsan Tower is not a nearby attraction to Namdanghang.
Check the final leg from the railway station or bus terminal to the venue, together with your return transport. Save the Korean venue address for taxi journeys. Before reserving accommodation, check the event dates and the booking’s cancellation terms.
Build your budget from the quoted food price plus transport, accommodation and any activities. A kilogram shared by several people is not a per-person serving price. Festival admission and paid activities should also be budgeted separately.
Food allergies: do not try a small portion
If you are allergic to shellfish, fish, mushrooms or another ingredient, do not taste even a small amount to test your reaction. Ask about ingredients and cross-contact during preparation; avoid a dish when its contents cannot be confirmed. See the NHS guidance on food allergies for the general avoidance advice.
