Pohang Gyeongju 2 Nights 3 Days Course: East Sea Sunrise + Silla Night Lights in One Trip
A two-night trip can combine Pohang and Gyeongju. Fill Pohang with the Yeongildae seaside walk and the free Hwanho Park Spacewalk night view, take in the Hwangridan-gil street and Donggung Wolji (Anapji) plus Woljeonggyo Bridge night-walk in Gyeongju, then close out with Bulguksa and Seokguram on the final day. Add Homigot sunrise as a dawn option and Bomun Lake as a wrap-up — and adjust the route to opening times and actual travel.

Public Transit and Rental Car Guide
- Pohang inner-city — Bus 9000 is listed in KTO’s coastal guide; check current stops and the first departure before relying on it for Homigot sunrise
- Gyeongju city: bus 10 runs between Hwangnidan-gil public parking and Bulguksa via the Bomun area. Check the nearest stop to each heritage site rather than treating it as a door-to-door city sightseeing loop.
- Gyeongju outer route: bus 12 links Bulguksa and Seokguram. It is a daytime service; check the seasonal timetable and return departure. The published 05:30–22:30 span is not the bus 12 timetable.
- Inter-city — Intercity bus travel time varies; check the actual service. KTX uses Gyeongju (KTX) and Pohang stations separately
- Rental recommended — When linking Homigot or Gampo coastline where bus intervals are long
For a Gyeongju-only itinerary, see Gyeongju 1 night 2 days Bulguksa course; for Pohang night views, Pohang Spacewalk night view guide pairs well.

Easy-to-Miss Checklist
- Donggung Wolji — Last admission 21:30; arrive before 21:00 to avoid being turned away
- Spacewalk — Closed first Monday (next day if a public holiday). If your trip lands on that day, switch to Yeongildae night walk
- Bulguksa and Seokguram: free admission, opening at 09:00. Last admission is 18:00 in March–September, 17:30 in February/October and 17:00 in November–January. Check current temple notices; allow time for road transport and the approach to Seokguram.
- Homigot sunrise — Strong wind. Light jacket and hat; check KASI sunrise time in advance
- Gyeongju buses: check the exact stop, direction and last departure on the city BIS and operator timetable. Bus 10 and bus 12 do not provide an automatic one-transfer route from every hotel or railway station.
- Lodging strategy — Plan A: Pohang (Yeongildae) 1 night + Gyeongju (Bomun) 1 night / Plan B: Bomun 2-night base
Why Pohang and Gyeongju Work as One Trip
Combining Pohang’s coast with Gyeongju’s heritage can reduce repeated long-distance travel. Actual transfer time depends on the starting hotel, traffic and chosen sights; Homigot and the mountain temples are substantial detours from the city centers. Compare the full route and transport connections before deciding whether one combined trip suits you.
Optional add-ons include Guryongpo Modern History Street, a Bomun Lake walk, and Gyochon Hanok Village. Guryongpo’s preserved Japanese-era buildings appear in many Korean dramas, and at Gyochon you can pick up Choi Family liquor (Gyeongju Beopju) and Gyori Gimbap as a final souvenir.
Lodging and Restaurant Quick Reference
- Pohang lodging: compare Yeongildae hotels by their actual route to Hwanho Park, including the uphill walk to Spacewalk; a 5–10-minute walk is not universal.
- Gyeongju lodging — Mid-to-large resorts at Bomun Resort area, or hanok guesthouses in the city center
- Pohang food — Jukdo Market mulhoe and gwamegi, Guryongpo snow crab, Yeongildae sashimi
- Gyeongju food — Ssambap set meal, Hwangridan-gil cafés, Gyochon Gyeongju Bread and Gyori Gimbap
