Gijang Travel Course Complete Guide: Lotte World, Coast, Café Day Loop

The Gijang travel course condenses into one loop: Lotte World Adventure Busan → Osiria coastal walk → Haedong Yonggungsa Temple → ocean-view cafés. Built around the Osiria tourism complex, the entire route keeps drive times under 30 minutes and walking transfers under 10 minutes between stops. This guide lays out a standard same-day Gijang travel course for foreign visitors, walkers, and renters starting from Haeundae, Seomyeon, or Busan Station — without ever doubling back.

Gijang Travel Course at a Glance: Osiria as Your Base

Gijang County packs its key tourism assets within a 3 km radius of Osiria Station on the Donghae Line. Lotte World Adventure Busan, Lotte Premium Outlets, Hilton and Ananti resorts, the Osiria coastal walk, and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple all sit in the same district. Following this Gijang travel course keeps cumulative driving time under 60 minutes.

Gijang Travel Course Stop 1: Lotte World Adventure Busan

Lotte World Adventure Busan opened on March 31, 2022 as Busan’s first large theme park. Hours run 10:00–20:00 on weekdays and 10:00–21:00 on weekends, with seasonal variation. A one-day pass costs 47,000 KRW for adults, 39,000 KRW for teens, and 35,000 KRW for children. Foreigners booking in advance through Klook or WAUG save 7–12%.

  • Must-ride attractions: Giant Digger (gyro drop), Giant Splash (water ride), Tornado
  • Skip the lines: Magic Pass (extra 15,000 KRW+) or arrive before 11:00 on weekdays
  • Food: In-park food court runs 15,000–20,000 KRW. Sealed plastic bottles are the only allowed outside drinks
  • Lockers: Coin lockers near the main gate cost 3,000 KRW (5,000 KRW large). Use Osiria Station lockers for full suitcases

Foreign visitors must show a passport or ARC at the ticket window to receive the international discount. Without a Korean payment card, the fastest path is buying a QR ticket on the Klook English site. Weekday school groups arrive after 14:00 and push wait times up by roughly 40 minutes, so an early arrival is the single biggest efficiency lever in this Gijang travel course.

Gijang Travel Course Stop 2: Haedong Yonggungsa Temple by the Sea

Gijang travel course Haedong Yonggungsa Temple seaside cliff sanctuary

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple was founded in 1376 by Master Naong during King Gongmin’s reign in Goryeo. It is the only one of Korea’s three principal Avalokiteshvara sanctuaries that sits directly on the coast. The official address is 86 Yonggung-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, and admission is free. Operating hours run from 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset — typically 04:00–19:30, with longer hours during sunrise ceremonies.

  • Photo highlights: Yongdu-am rock below the 108 stone steps, the twelve zodiac statues at the entrance, the sunrise line in front of the main hall
  • Best timing: Just before sunrise (07:00 winter, 05:30 summer) or weekday afternoons between 15:00–16:00 after tour groups leave
  • Parking: Temple lot costs 3,000 KRW. Expect a 1 km backup on weekend mornings 11:00–14:00
  • Access: Osiria Station → bus 100 or 181 (20 min), or Haeundae Station → express bus 1003 (40 min)

Smoking and alcohol are prohibited on temple grounds, and photography inside the main hall is restricted. Unlike palaces that waive fees for hanbok wearers, Haedong Yonggungsa is free regardless — yet it still hosts the highest share of foreign visitors taking sunrise photos in hanbok of any Busan landmark. Keep noise down inside the main hall and respect religious protocol.

Gijang Travel Course Stop 3: Osiria Coastal Walk and Ocean-View Cafés

The Osiria coastal walk runs 3.7 km from the end of Songjeong Beach past the Hilton and Ananti resorts to the Dongam fishing village — and it is free. The wooden boardwalk is stroller and wheelchair accessible, with five cafés and lookouts spaced along the route, so an hour covers the highlights. Reserving sunset for this stretch of the Gijang travel course pays off because you can see the visual boundary between the East Sea and the South Sea at the same time.

Four Ocean-View Cafés Compared

Wave On’s social-media fame pushes weekend waits past an hour, so within the Osiria loop, Hayden or Sun Cruise is the better first choice. Foreign travelers usually find Hayden easiest thanks to an English menu. All four cafés accept card and KakaoPay; cash is almost never used.

Gijang Travel Course Transit: Walkers vs Rental Car

Starting from downtown Busan, a rental car is not required. The Busan Donghae Line metro stops at Osiria Station (Zone 2) on the Bujeon–Taehwagang route, and the ride from Haeundae Station takes just 11 minutes. Two one-seat options exist.

  • Best for walkers: Busan Station → transfer at Bujeon → Osiria Station (50 min total, 2,200 KRW)
  • Best for renters: Family of 4+, heavy luggage, or late-night café hopping after sunset
  • Smart taxi use: Osiria Station ↔ Haedong Yonggungsa is 9,000 KRW one way and easy to hail via KakaoT
  • Parking: Lotte World Adventure Busan charges 8,000 KRW for 4 hours; Outlets free for 3 hours

A single T-money card pays for the Donghae Line, city buses, and taxis. Foreign visitors can buy a Busan limited-edition T-money card for 4,000 KRW at the Busan Station tourist information center. T-money usage and recharging are also covered in the K-drama filming location tour guide.

Gijang Travel Course Season-by-Season Notes

  • Spring (Mar–May): Jukseong-ri canola fields peak; Haedong Yonggungsa cherry blossoms hit in the first week of April
  • Summer (Jun–Aug): Songjeong and Imrang beaches open, Lotte World water attractions in operation
  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): Sunrise shifts to around 06:30, making sunrise photography easier
  • Winter (Dec–Feb): Haedong Yonggungsa New Year sunrise festival on January 1, Osiria coast at its quietest

During monsoon season (late June to mid-July) parts of the coastal walk may be closed. Check the Korea Tourism Organization’s “VisitKorea” site or the Gijang County office in advance.

Gijang Travel Course FAQ

Can I spend all day at Lotte World Adventure Busan?

You can, but it isn’t recommended. With fewer attractions than the flagship Jamsil park, three to four hours covers the highlights. Pairing Haedong Yonggungsa and the ocean-view cafés inside the Gijang travel course prevents the “I came all the way to Busan and only rode rides” regret.

Can I watch the sunrise from inside Haedong Yonggungsa?

Yes — entry opens 30 minutes before sunrise. The cliff line in front of the main hall is the prime viewpoint. For the New Year sunrise on January 1, gates open at 04:00 and access closes 1 km out from midnight. On regular days, arriving 30 minutes ahead is enough.

Is the Gijang travel course too packed for walkers?

Not if you base yourself at Osiria Station. Donghae Line → Osiria Station → 5-min walk to Lotte World → bus 181 → Haedong Yonggungsa → bus 100 return → Osiria coastal walk lines up cleanly. On a weekday this finishes in roughly “1 hour transit + 6 hours sightseeing.”

Gijang Travel Course Final Checklist

  • Pre-book Lotte World Adventure Busan tickets on Klook
  • Drop bags in Osiria Station coin lockers before the loop
  • Visit Haedong Yonggungsa 14:00–16:00, the golden window after group tours leave
  • Reach ocean-view cafés 30 min before sunset to claim seats
  • Head back to Haeundae before 19:00 to dodge crowded Donghae Line trains

For different Busan-area itineraries, the Busan family 2N3D course and Busan couple 2N3D course are the natural companions when picking a route by departure point, budget, and pace.
