Yeosu summer sea activities go beyond just lying on the beach. In 2025, Yeosu City announced beach operation from July 5 to August 17 (44 days, 10:00–19:00), and at the same time runs free marine leisure programs (windsurfing, kayak, canoe, scuba, snorkeling, water bike, dinghy yacht, cruiser yacht) at Ungcheon Beach, the Yeosu Expo site, and Soho Yacht Marina from June to September. You can register through OK Integrated Booking, phone, or on-site. The 2026 schedule changes each year, so check the Yeosu City notice and OK booking right before you go.

1) Ungcheon Beach & Waterfront Park: free programs + city access

Yeosu summer sea activities - free snorkeling experience scene

Ungcheon Waterfront Park is a 2010-built urban park with a man-made beach (sand and wooden deck), pine groves, walking paths, a campsite, showers, restrooms, and water fountains. Add Yeosu City’s free marine leisure programs and your summer day is complete. Related: Yeosu Cable Car & Night Sea Course.

  • Free programs: kayak, canoe, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba, dinghy yacht
  • Amenities: beach camping, walking, sunset views
  • Access: public transport + taxi friendly, family-friendly

2) Yeosu Expo Site: free programs with night view and food

The Expo area has a great mix of lodging, night view, and food, so it is a regular stop on a summer Yeosu trip. Free marine leisure includes kayak, canoe, and water bike programs.

3) Soho Yacht Marina: Yeosu summer sea activities for yacht and sailing fans

Yeosu City also runs free marine leisure programs at Soho Yacht Marina. Balance sports on water (dinghy yacht, windsurfing) feel different from regular beach play. Free programs: dinghy yacht, cruiser yacht.

4) Mansungri Black Sand Beach: signature black sand + sand bath

Mansungri’s biggest feature is the rare black sand beach, famous for sand bathing. Locally, the lunar April 20 is called the “day the black sand opens its eyes.” Recommended: sea bathing + sand bath, walks at sunset (great photo spot).

5) Mosageum Beach (Dolsan): family swim + fishing point

Mosageum has fine golden sand mixed with pebble and rock sections. The beach is 225 m long and 30 m wide, water is shallow and clean, and it is also known as a fishing point (black sea bream from May through autumn). Recommended: shallow swim (beginners and families), shore fishing for those with experience.

6) Bangjukpo Beach (Dolsan): pine shade + family healing

Bangjukpo is a small beach (150 m long, 30 m wide) shaped like a pot on Dolsan’s east coast. Waves are gentle, water is shallow with a low slope, ideal for families. The area is also a sea fishing point (eel, bream, marbled rockfish). Around 150 pines about 200 years old form a grove, with parking, restrooms, and other amenities. Recommended: shallow swim with kids + pine grove picnic, fishing after checking spot conditions.

7) Museulmok Beach (Dolsan): pebble + low-tide sand, two faces

Museulmok is about 700 m long, made of large pebbles instead of sand, with a sandy stretch revealed at low tide. It is also a Dolsan sunrise spot, and the Jeonnam Marine Science Museum is right behind, making a smooth family route. Recommended: walk timed to the tide (check low tide), pair with the Marine Science Museum for a half-day course.

8) Jangdeung Beach (Hwayang): quiet sand (check private land fee)

Jangdeung Beach sits about 32 km south of central Yeosu. The fine soft sand, shallow water, and gentle slope make it good for swimming with kids. Note: it is private land, so parking and tent fees may apply. Recommended: quiet swim + tent rest (confirm fees and rules).

9) Nangdo Beach: drive-in island + summer sea bass fishing

Nangdo is now connected to the mainland by 5 link bridges between Hwayang in Yeosu and Yeongnam in Goheung, so you can drive in. The beach is famous for summer sea bass fishing, with shallow clear water and space for car camping or tents. Recommended: drive + island swim, fishing with safety gear (essentials for beginners).

10) Ando Beach (Geumo Islands): clean water in Dadohaehaesang National Park

Ando, together with Geumo, Sori, and Hoenggan, forms the Geumo Islands and belongs to Dadohaehaesang National Park. The water is clean, summer visitors come to swim, and it is also a family resort and sea fishing area. Recommended: island day trip + quiet swim, fishing with safety and weather checks.

11) Geomundo Yurim + Baekdo cruise: top-tier Yeosu summer sea activities

Yurim Beach on Geomundo (Seodo) is 200–300 m long, 20 m wide, with shallow water, fine golden sand, and nearby camellia forest trekking. The high-speed ferry from Yeosu to Geomundo takes about 2 hours. Baekdo is an uninhabited cluster of 39 rocky islets, designated Scenic Site No. 7, and landing has been banned since 1987 — cruises only loop around. Tickets: 29,900 KRW for adults, 14,500 KRW for children, 2 to 2 hours 20 minutes round trip; cruises may not depart without enough passengers, so call ahead. Recommended: island trekking + Yurim Beach, Baekdo cruise (huge photo payoff).

12) Marine Zip Track (Dolsan Ramada): 1.2 km of sea-level thrill, no swimming needed

The marine zip track at Ramada Dolsan launches from the hotel rooftop, runs across the sea at the country’s tallest 130 m, total 1.2 km, max 80 km/h. Pick this when you want summer sea + thrill in your photos, or when you want the activity without the swim.

Bonus: Yeosu yacht tour night course

Yutop Marina Hotel’s yacht tour runs an evening route: Hotel → Odongdo → Maritime Cable Car → Geobukseon Bridge → Pojacha Street → Hamel Lighthouse → Janggundo → Dolsan Bridge (return). It takes 70–80 minutes and may be canceled in bad weather. Suggested combo: morning swim at Ungcheon → evening yacht for the night view → late night at Pojacha Street.
