Goyang Ilsan Lake Park: Seasonal Picnic Course Guide for All Four Seasons
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park is a downtown lake park where you can plan a full day of slow rest — a 4.7 km bike loop, a 9.1 km walking trail, a metasequoia avenue, exhibition halls, and an ecology learning zone, all radiating from a central reservoir. The geography lets you string together a “walk, sit, walk again” picnic flow naturally. From Seoul, it is a 10-minute walk from Jeongbalsan Station Exit 1 (Seoul Subway Line 3), so airport transfers and city day-trips both work.

Goyang Ilsan Lake Park — spring (Apr–May): tulips and cherry blossoms

Spring is the most photogenic season at Goyang Ilsan Lake Park. The Goyang International Flower Festival takes over the park from late April through early May with massive tulip beds, cherry blossom tunnels along Hosu-ro, and rented hanbok photo zones. Plan to arrive 09:00–10:00 to beat the family stroller traffic that fills the central plaza after lunch.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park — summer (Jun–Aug): musical fountain and night picnic

Summer is for evenings here. The lakeside musical fountain runs from sunset, the night-illumination zone hits its peak around 21:00, and the metasequoia avenue draws couples for slow night walks. Bring a thin jacket — even in mid-July the breeze off the reservoir cools the path significantly after dark.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park — autumn (Sep–Nov): foliage and chrysanthemum festival
Late October to early November turns the metasequoia avenue and the central island into the park’s strongest foliage scene. The Goyang Chrysanthemum Festival runs in the same window and adds 100,000+ chrysanthemum displays around the lake — easily a full afternoon of walking.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park — winter (Dec–Feb): quiet lake walks

Winter is the quietest and arguably the most underrated season. The full 4.7 km loop is walkable on cleared trails, the trees lose their leaves to reveal the lake structure, and on a clear day the Bukhansan ridge stands out across the water. Bring a thermos — there’s no café cluster directly inside, but the Jeongbalsan Station area has 10+ cafés within five minutes.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park — restaurants and food spots after the walk
After the loop, the area between Jeongbalsan Station and Western Dom is the food cluster — Korean BBQ, Japanese izakaya, dessert cafés, and family-friendly all-day restaurants. The Lake Park exit closest to Western Dom (about 8 minutes walk) is the most efficient way to chain park → meal → return.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park: pick a season, plan one full day
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park works best when you commit to one season’s scenery rather than rushing through. Spring tulips, summer night fountains, autumn metasequoia foliage, and winter clear-day lake walks each give a completely different mood. Add 30 minutes of food cluster time at the Western Dom exit and the day fills in cleanly.
