Public Transport: Bus 10 plus Bus 12 Transfer
You do not need a car. The most asked question for the Gyeongju 1 Night 2 Days Bulguksa course is “How do I get to Seokguram?”, and the answer is simple. Take Bus 10 (or 11) downtown to Bulguksa, then transfer to Bus 12 at the Bulguksa stop. One transfer covers everything.

Since 1 July 2025, Gyeongju city bus fares have been KRW 1,500 (adult), KRW 1,200 (youth) and KRW 800 (child). T-money or Cashbee gives a KRW 50 discount, and you can recharge at any convenience store. Photograph the Bus 12 timetable at Seokguram so you do not miss the once-an-hour return.
Day 1 Downtown: Daereungwon and Hwangnidan-gil
Downtown Gyeongju is a compact area where Daereungwon, Hwangnidan-gil, Cheomseongdae and Donggung Palace all sit within 10 minutes on foot. Daereungwon stays open until 22:00, so even an evening arrival leaves time for a full loop.
- Daereungwon – Free entry (Cheonmachong tomb KRW 3,000). The 1.5 km loop takes about 40 minutes.
- Cheomseongdae – Five minutes on foot, illuminated until 22:00 for a calm evening walk.
- Hwangnidan-gil – Hwangnam-dong cafe and craft street; many shops open until 23:00.
- Donggung & Wolji (Anapji) – The night-lit highlight of the trip. Adult ticket KRW 3,000.
For parking, try Daereungwon public lot (KRW 2,000 / 2 hr), Hwangnidan-gil Nodong public lot (KRW 1,000 / hr), then the temporary free lot near Hwangnidan-gil. Day 2 Mountain: Gyeongju 1 Night 2 Days Bulguksa and Seokguram
Bulguksa and Seokguram were both inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995. They sit on Toham-san, about 3 km apart on foot (1 hour 20 minutes one way) or 9 km by road. Going up to Seokguram first and walking down to Bulguksa is the scenic option, but for non-drivers the safer route is Bulguksa, then Bus 12 up, then Bus 12 back down.
- Bulguksa – Cheongun and Baegun stone bridges, plus the Dabotap and Seokgatap pagodas. Allow about 1 hour.
- Seokguram – The Buddha is viewed through glass; no photos inside. The corridor loop takes 30 minutes.
- Toham-san sunrise – In summer (Jun-Aug, around 04:30) the side path of the main hall offers a coastal sunrise view.
Temple etiquette is the most common question for foreign visitors. Take off your shoes when entering the main hall, and cover sleeveless tops or short skirts with a light cardigan. You do not need to bow, but loud phone calls or noisy shutter cameras in front of the Buddha are considered rude. To extend this trip eastward, pair it with the Korea sunrise spots on the east coast.
