Oryukdo Skywalk Busan: Visitor Guide to Korea’s Glass Cliff
Standing on the cliff edge in Busan’s Nam-gu district, the sea opens up beneath your feet. The Oryukdo Skywalk Busan takes just 20 minutes to walk, but the view through the glass floor beats most observation decks in Korea. Here’s everything you need to visit: location, hours, transport, and nearby trails.

What Is the Oryukdo Skywalk?
The Oryukdo Skywalk is a U-shaped glass-floor walkway perched 35 meters above the sea at Oryukdo Haemaji Park in Yongho-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. The reinforced glass floor lets you look straight down at the South Sea below. At 35 meters long and 2 meters wide, the structure itself is compact, but with the sea on three sides the experience is far more dramatic than the dimensions suggest. It opened in 2013 and has since become one of Busan’s most talked-about free attractions.
Oryukdo — meaning “five or six islands” — gets its name from the rocky islets that appear to change in number depending on the tide and time of day. From this glass cliff, you get the closest unobstructed view of those islands. On a clear day, you can even spot Tsushima Island off Japan on the horizon. The park sits about 20–30 minutes by car from central Busan.
Oryukdo Skywalk Hours and Admission

Admission is free and no reservation is required. Hours shift by one hour between seasons, so check before you go.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Hours | 09:00–18:00 (Apr–Sep: until 19:00) |
| Closed | Every Monday; Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays |
| Admission | Free |

Disposable shoe covers are required to protect the glass — they’re provided free at the entrance. The walkway may close on rainy or very windy days for safety reasons; call ahead if the weather looks uncertain. Weekday mornings are the least crowded. On weekends and public holidays, short queues can form in the afternoon.
Getting There and Parking
The skywalk is reachable by public transit. The most common route is to take Busan Metro Line 2 to Gyeongseong University–Pukyong University Station or Daeyeon Station, then transfer to a bus. Wear comfortable shoes — there’s a short uphill walk from the bus stop.
| Transport | Route |
|---|---|
| Bus | Routes 24 or 131 → Oryukdo Haemaji Park stop |
| Metro + Bus | Line 2 to Gyeongseong Univ.–Pukyong Univ. → Bus 24 (~25 min) |
| Car | Search “오륙도 해맞이공원” in Naver Maps or Kakao Maps |
| Taxi | ~25 min from Haeundae, ~20 min from Seomyeon |
A public car park sits at the park entrance. It fills up fast on weekends and during peak season — public transit is the smarter option. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes, then 500 won per additional 30 minutes. Street parking nearby is enforced, so don’t risk it.
Oryukdo Skywalk Best Photo Spots

Three spots consistently produce the best shots:
- Center of the U-shape: Sea on both sides, Oryukdo islands straight ahead. Weekday mornings between 10–11am give the best light without backlit glare.
- Entrance observation deck: The platform to the right before you step onto the walkway lets you frame the full cliff face and sea. Best angle if you want the whole structure in the shot.
- Looking straight down through the glass: For a clean downward shot of the water, press your lens against the glass or use a polarizing filter to cut reflections.
Sunset is another strong option — the sea and sky turn vivid. Just make sure you’re not cutting it close to closing time. A smartphone camera is more than enough here; you don’t need a dedicated camera to get great shots.
Nearby: Igidae Coastal Trail
If you have time after the skywalk, the Igidae Coastal Trail is worth adding to your itinerary. This 4.7 km seaside trail runs from Oryukdo Haemaji Park to Igidae Park, hugging dramatic cliffs above the South Sea the entire way. The full round trip takes 3–4 hours, but even walking 1–2 km from the entrance gives you striking views without committing to the full hike.
Trail maps are available on the Visit Busan official website. There are no restroom facilities along the trail, so plan accordingly. Wear proper walking shoes and bring water — some sections involve steep stairs that can be tough on the knees.
Visitor Checklist

Oryukdo Skywalk Busan: Worth the Trip
The Oryukdo Skywalk is one of the few free attractions in Busan that genuinely delivers on the view. It fits easily into a Busan day trip — pair it with Haeundae or Gwangalli in the afternoon, or combine it with the Igidae Coastal Trail for a solid half-day on the coast. Go on a clear morning and you won’t be disappointed.
